Music - Energy - Peace

Despite the fact that I've played and seen 100's of gigs, I continue to be truly amazed by the power music has on our souls. I just got back from a Freshlyground show and the lead singer, Zolani, is particularly good at "soul talking." Soul seems like the best way to describe music that you feel more than hear. Anyone can see she feels the music. She uses her voice and entire body to exude what she is feeling into the audience... The crowd ate it up as a whole. Emerging property theory states that a group experiences something that is beyond the reach of any individual. Our own connectedness pushes us to be greater than ourselves... this energy in my opinion is the first step realizing peace, in that it helps us realize that our connectedness is far more important than what divides us. Oversimplified, yes, but sometimes it takes creativity, art and music to bring us together.
